Geriatric Care Managers

Also called Aging Life Care Professionals. These are credentialed professionals, often with backgrounds in nursing or social work, who assess a loved one’s needs and coordinate their care.

Aging Life Care Association (ALCA)

The primary national organization for Aging Life Care Professionals, representing more than 2,000 members who hold specialized degrees in nursing, social work, gerontology, or psychology and are bound by ALCA’s Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics. Search their “Find an Aging Life Care Expert” tool by zip code, anywhere in the country.

Patient Advocates

Independent Patient Advocates help families understand a diagnosis, communicate with medical teams, manage hospital discharges, and navigate insurance and billing disputes. Many hold the Board Certified Patient Advocate (BCPA) credential.

Greater National Advocates (GNA)

A 501(c)(3) nonprofit that hosts the nation’s largest directory of Independent Patient Advocates. Search by location, specialty, and area of expertise, including advocates who focus on seniors and complex care needs.

National Association of Healthcare Advocacy (NAHAC)

A nonprofit professional organization for independent healthcare advocates. Their public directory lists nearly 300 advocates nationwide, searchable by location and specialty.

A platform that matches patients with an advocate and a supporting local physician, with coverage available through Medicare and many Medicare Advantage plans nationwide. After a short intake call, Solace matches you with an advocate, you do not select a specific individual from a public directory.

The organization that issues the Board Certified Patient Advocate (BCPA) credential. Their public list lets you verify whether a specific advocate holds active BCPA certification.
